DENVER - Kansas City's Mia Jerman and Grand Canyon's Latoya Gilding have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb 12-18.
Jerman, a sophomore from Ste. Genevieve, Mo., out ran 28 competitors in the 3,000 meter run this past weekend at the Nebraska Tune-Up. She finished first with a personal record of 10:02.91. Jerman now ranks fourth best in school history and fourth in the WAC this season.
Gilding, a junior from El Dorado, Trinidad and Tobago, placed fourth in the shot put with a personal record of 13.98 meter mark. Her mark puts her second on the WAC-best list right before the championship and finished fourth at the meet. She also had a mark of 13.59 in the weight throw.

Other field nominees: Kansas City's Blessing Oparaji performed a season best of a 5.28 meter mark in the long jump.
