DENVER - Grand Canyon redshirt senior Joshua Braun has been voted to the Academic All-District 8 Men's Basketball Team. He now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration. That team will be announced on March 12.
Braun is working on a master's degree in business administration and currently carries a 3.60 grade-point average. He earned his undergraduate degree in business management. He is a two-time first team Academic All-American®, the 24th first team Academic All-American® in WAC men's basketball history and just the eighth two-time first team selection in WAC history.
A two-time WAC Preseason Player of the Year, Braun currently averages 12.8 points, good for eighth in the league, and 2.2 three-pointers per game, tied for sixth in the WAC. He also adds 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Braun is the WAC's active leading career scorer with 1,671 points. Earlier this season, he broke the Grand Canyon all-time career three-point record and now has 252 three-pointers, good for 11th all-time in WAC history.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA at his current institution. Voting is done by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
