BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its 18th annual Preseason All-America Teams on Monday and CSU Bakersfield's Naithen Dewsnap became the first Roadrunner in program history to earn a spot on the squad.

Dewsnap, a native of Norco, Calif., was selected Preseason All-America Third Team as a relief pitcher after a stellar first year with the Roadrunners in 2017. A transfer from Chaffey College, the then junior reset the school record for most saves in a season as well as the CSUB career record with 14. Two of those saves came in the WAC Tournament, where Dewsnap was named to the All-Tournament Team after throwing six scoreless innings for Bakersfield.

The right-handed submariner finished the season with a 3-1 record and a 2.40 ERA on his way to being named Second Team All-WAC. Dewsnap also managed to strike out 60 batters in 48.2 innings of work, compiling a strong resume for the NCBWA voters.

Not only did Dewsnap become the first `Runner in the program's history to earn the honor, but he was also the only student-athlete in the Western Athletic Conference to make the squad in 2018.

The CSUB baseball team will kick off the 2018 season on Feb. 16 with a four-game home stand. To save big at the box office, consider purchasing season tickets here. Single-game tickets are also available for all CSUB baseball home games.
