DENVER - UT Rio Grande Valley's Pedro Lamadrid and Utah Valley's Ana Raga have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 7 through March 13.

Lamadrid, a junior from Guadalajara, Mexico (Centro Universitario Ciencias Computacionales), turned in a career-best 210 to finish in a tie for seventh place at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas. After opening with a 3-under-par 69 and firing a 1-over-par 73, the 4-under-par 68 brought him into the top 10 and helped lead the Vaqueros to a fifth-place team finish among 17 schools.

Raga, a junior from Caracas, Venezuala (Colegio El Alba) earned a fifth-place finish at the BYU at Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah. After shooting a 2-over-par 74 to open the tournament, she fired a pair of 1-under-par 71s in rounds two and three to move into the top five with an even-par 216. It is her second straight top-5 finish and her 74.8 stroke average leads the Wolverines and is fifth in the WAC this season.

Other women's nominees: CSU Bakersfield's Ariel Lee powered the ‘Runners to a fifth-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational, firing a 10-over-par 226 to take 12th among 56 golfers … Kansas City's Cynthia Diaz led the Roos for the third straight tournament, shooting a 13-over-par 232 at the Bradley Spring Break Invitational … UT Rio Grande Valley's Shweta Mansingh led UTRGV with a 54-hole total of 233 to tie for 19th at the Bradley Spring Break Invitational.
