DENVER -
Chicago State senior center Deionte Simmons has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 26-March 3. This is his first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor.

The Detroit native came off the bench to finish with a team-high 20 points and game highs of 11 rebounds and two blocks in an 86-71 win over Kansas City that snapped a 24-game WAC losing skid for the Cougars that dated back to Jan. 12, 2017.
Simmons shot 7-of-11 from the field as he tallied his team-leading fourth double-double of the season in the victory. It was also Chicago State's first win since Nov. 21 of this season, also a span of 24 games. He currently ranks fourth in the WAC in field goal percentage (60.0) and fifth in rebounds (6.0).
