NM STATE'S HORTON, SEATTLE U'S NANCE NAMED WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
NM State's
Kelsey Horton and Seattle U's
Carley Nance have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for April 2-8. This is the first honor of the season and fifth of her career for Horton and the second of the season and of her career for Nance.
Horton, a junior second baseman from San Clemente, Calif., hit .750 with one double, four home runs, seven runs scored and eight RBIs over four games played last week. She posted an astonishing 2.375 slugging percentage as she had an extra base hit in all four games and multiple RBIs in each game. Horton also had an .846 on-base percentage as she also walked three times on the week. She began the week with a solo homer against rival New Mexico. In the series opener against CSU Bakersfield, Horton began with a timely two-run home run that tied the game in the first inning. In the second game of the series, the junior hit a pair of homers in her two at-bats. Horton closed out the series with an RBI double. She entered the week ranked 12th nationally with 12 home runs on the season and now ranks tied for fourth with 16.
Nance, a freshman left-hander from Maple Valley, Wash., went 1-0 with a 1.40 ERA over 10.0 innings last week while holding opponents to a .194 batting average. She allowed just two runs on seven hits. Nance threw three inning at No. 1 Washington last Wednesday, giving up just four hits against one of the nation's top offenses. She also struck out one. She followed up that performance with a complete-game three-hitter in the series finale against Kansas City on Saturday, a 1-0 win over the Roos. She struck out two and walked none in the shutout, her second of the season. Nance leads the WAC with 12 wins and 109 strikeouts on the season.

UTAH VALLEY'S COOK IS A PERFECT 19-FOR-19 IN STOLEN BASES
With one more stolen base last week, Utah Valley junior
Skylar Cook is 19-for-19 in stolen bases on the year. The 19 stolen bases rank second in the WAC and second in the UVU single-season record books behind Morgan Summers Smith's record of 24 (24-for-25) in 2016. Cook's 19 stolen bases are also the most stolen bases that a Wolverine has ever achieved without being caught.
SEATTLE U CLAIMS SECOND-EVER WAC SERIES SWEEP
Seattle U claimed just the second WAC sweep in program history, taking all three meetings from Kansas City last weekend, including a five-inning 13-0 rout that featured 16 Redhawk hits.

Shianne Smith and
Carley Nance each pitched complete games in the series, allowing zero earned runs over 19 innings. The WAC sweep is the first for Seattle U since April 13, 2013, when the Redhawks beat Utah State three straight times.
UVU BEATS GCU FOR FIRST TIME EVER
Utah Valley recorded its first win in program history over WAC preseason favorite Grand Canyon April 6 with a 5-3 victory. With the finale being washed out due to rain, the Wolverines and Lopes split the two-game series and UVU and GCU remain in a tie for third place in the league standings.
NM STATE'S GLACKIN TIES SINGLE-SEASON HIT BY PITCH RECORD
NM State's
Fahren Glackin tied the single-season record for hit by pitch after being hit for the 13th time this season. The previous record was set by sophomore
Nikki Butler as a freshman in 2017. Butler has been hit 11 times this season, good for third place, while Glackin was hit 10 times last year, which now ranks tied for fourth.
CSUB'S CAVAZOS BECOMES ALL-TIME WALKS LEADER
With three walks last weekend, CSU Bakersfield senior
Julea Cavazos moved her career total to 49 to become the all-time leader in the category. Cavazos surpassed Selena Gonzales' record of 47 (2015-17).
NM STATE'S HORTON MOVES INTO TOP FIVE IN CAREER RECORDS
Kelsey Horton ranks among the Aggie greats in several NM State career records. The junior ranks first in batting average (.387) and slugging percentage (.761), fourth in home runs (45), and fifth in both total bases (350) and RBIs (149).
