PLAYING FOR THE TROPHY
NM State was selected as the favorite to win the 2018 Western Athletic Conference women's golf title in a vote of the league's head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.The Aggies, winners of the last four WAC titles, received six of eight first-place votes for 48 points. Grand Canyon picked up the remaining two first-place votes and second place with 41 points. Seattle U edged out Utah Valley by a point for third place with 34 points. Kansas City was picked fifth with 27 points, followed by UT Rio Grande Valley (19), CSU Bakersfield (15) and Chicago State (7).
ON THE COURSE
Just one week remains in the regular season before the 2018 WAC Men's Golf Championship at Prairie Dunes County Club in Hutchinson, Kan. Grand Canyon opens up the action on Friday at the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis. NM State opens up play at The ASU Thunderbird on Saturday, as does Kansas City at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational. Chicago State rounds out the regular season slate at the Beu/Mussato Invitational in Macomb, Ill.
