DENVER - Seattle U's Dalton Hurd and Sacramento State's Parker Brahms have been named Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for April 9 - April 15.

Hurd, a senior outfielder from Bend, Ore. (Bend HS), led the Redhawks to a 5-0 week as he became SU's all-time hits and runs scored leader. Going 11-for-19 on the week, he led the WAC with a .579 batting average, collecting multiple hits in three of five games. After setting the school record for hits with his 215th in the nightcap of a doubleheader with Air Force, his biggest game came in the middle game of the weekend series with Alcorn State, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a grand slam, leading to three runs and five RBIs. On the week, he totaled four doubles, six RBIs and eight runs scored.

Brahms, a sophomore right-hander from Topanga, Calif. (Calabasas HS), struck out a career-high and school record 14 batters in a 5-0 win over Northern Colorado on Friday night. He scattered a pair of hits over seven scoreless innings to earn the win. The defending WAC Freshman of the Year leads the WAC with a 1.61 ERA on the year with 68 strikeouts and 13 walks in 56.0 innings pitched.

Other Hitter of the Week nominees: CSU Bakersfield's Jassen Oliver had a career-high three hits in the ‘Runners season-opening win over Utah Valley … Grand Canyon's Tyler Wyatt extended his hitting streak to eight games in a series win at UTRGV … NM State's Tristen Carranza led the Aggies at the plate with a 10-for-18 week at the plate … Sacramento State's Matt Smith had a career-best four hits in a loss to Pacific on Tuesday … UT Rio Grande Valley's Anthony Gomez had three hits each in wins over Texas State and Grand Canyon.

CSU Bakersfield's Elijah Parks earned the win in his first conference start, allowing two runs over six innings at Utah Valley … Grand Canyon's Ethan Evanko had 10 strikeouts in a series-clinching win at UTRGV … NM State's Justin Dehn earned the win with five scoreless innings at New Mexico on Tuesday night … UT Rio Grande Valley's Jorge Flores had a career-high 10 strikeouts in a 9-1 win over Grand Canyon on Saturday.
