KANSAS CITY'S BLOOM, GCU'S AGUILAR-BEAUCAGE NAMED WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Kansas City's Alyx Bloom and Grand Canyon's Brianna Aguilar-Beaucage have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for April 16-22. This is the first-ever honor for Bloom and the third honor of the season and fourth of her career for Aguilar-Beaucage.

Bloom, a graduate catcher from Clay Center, Kan., hit .538 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three runs scored and one RBI over five games last week as the Roos picked up their first WAC wins of the season. She posted a 1.077 slugging percentage and a .684 on-base percentage as she also walked five times on the week. Bloom recorded her first-ever three-hit games during the week against Creighton and CSU Bakersfield. She has had only one strikeout in her past 22 at-bats for an 8:1 strikeout to walk ratio. Bloom also threw out her conference-best 15th base stealer of the season.

Aguilar-Beaucage, a sophomore right-hander from Tucson, Ariz., went 1-0 with a 1.56 ERA in a complete-game extra innings win over Seattle U in her only appearance last week. She allowed just two runs on six hits over 9.0 innings while striking out three. She held the Redhawks, which entered the week leading the conference with a .316 batting average in WAC play, to a .182 batting average in the victory.

Other Hitter of the Week nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Paige Johnson hit .556 with a .556 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage ... Laynee Gomez of Grand Canyon hit .600 with a double, one RBI and one stolen base ... Kelsey Horton of NM State hit .500 with a solo homer, a .714 slugging percentage and a .611 on-base percentage ... Seattle U's Ally Choate hit .556 with two RBIs ... Kaylee Bott of Utah Valley hit .538 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Other Pitcher of the Week nominees included: Kansas City's Lynsey Conner went 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA and five strikeouts over 17.0 innings last week ... Shianne Smith of Seattle U went 1-1 with 2.33 ERA and nine strikeouts over 9.0 innings pitched last week ... Utah Valley's Makayla Shadle went 2-0 with a 2.47 ERA and nine strikeouts in 11.1 innings of work.

NM STATE, SEATTLE U TO PLAY FOR REGULAR-SEASON TITLE THIS WEEKEND
NM State and Seattle U are currently tied for first place in the WAC standings with 9-3 records. The teams play a three-game series to close the regular season this weekend, with the winner of the series claiming the WAC regular-season title. Seattle U has secured a top three seed in the WAC Tournament, which will mark its highest-ever finish in the WAC standings.

SEATTLE U'S BOLASKY TIES PROGRAM STEALS RECORD
Seattle U senior Nicole Bolasky currently leads the WAC with 26 steals, tying the Redhawk single-season record set by Jessica Ulrich in 2010.

UTAH VALLEY TAKES FIRST-EVER SERIES FROM NM STATE
Trailing NM State by a score of 6-0 in the fourth inning of the series finale last weekend, Utah Valley scored seven unanswered runs to complete a 7-6 come-from-behind victory to take the series from the Aggies for the first time in program history. Caragh Morris came off the bench and blasted a pair of two-run homers in the late innings for the Wolverines, while Kaylee Bott went a perfect 3-for-3 and drove home the winning run in the seventh inning with a walk-off RBI single. Senior right-hander Makayla Shadle was also key in the comeback by pitching four innings of shutout relief. With the series victory, UVU now sits in third place in the WAC standings with a 7-4 league record and has won six of its last seven ballgames.

SEATTLE U'S ALLY CHOATE TIES PROGRAM RUNS RECORD
Seattle U freshman Ally Choate currently has 37 runs scored this season, tying the program Division I single-season set by Paige Bouska in 2017.

NMSU'S GREEN MOVES UP CAREER SAVES LIST
In the Aggies' win at Utah Valley on April 21, Kayla Green recorded her seventh career save. She ranks second in the Aggie record books for career saves. Green also ranks 44th among active players nationally.

SEATTLE U'S CATHCART SETS SEASON DOUBLES RECORD
Seattle U sophomore Madison Cathcart holds the school's Division I record for doubles in a season with 19. Cathcart currently leads the WAC and ranks fourth nationally in the category.

UVU'S ANDERSON, WILLIAMS TIED FOR LEAD IN HBP
Utah Valley seniors Kirsten Andersen and Taleigh Williams were both hit by pitch last weekend to move into a tie atop the UVU record books with Breezy Roth. The trio have all been hit by pitch 16 times in their careers at UVU.

CSUB'S BURT HOLDS TWO CAREER RECORDS
CSU Bakersfield senior Kaylynn Burt is the program Division I career leader in stolen bases (35) and hit by pitch (27). She also ranks tied for second in walks (47) and third in runs (71).

UVU POSTS JUST THIRD SERIES SWEEP SINCE JOINING THE WAC
When it swept Kansas City by scores of 10-2, 7-1 and 10-6 last weekend, it was just Utah Valley's third conference series sweep since joining the WAC prior to the 2014 season. The Wolverines also swept the Roos in 2017 and swept CSU Bakersfield during the 2014 season.

SEATTLE U SETS SEVERAL PROGRAM RECORDS
Seattle U has set several program records this season, winning 30 games for the first time in program Division I history. The Redhawks finished their home slate with 13 wins, a Division I single-season high. The Redhawks also won 20 games prior to the start of WAC play for the first time ever.

CSUB'S CAVAZOS BECOMES ALL-TIME WALKS LEADER
CSU Bakersfield senior Julea Cavazos has a career total of 51 walks and is the all-time program leader in the category. Cavazos surpassed Selena Gonzales' record of 47 (2015-17).

UTAH VALLEY'S COOK PERFECT 20-FOR-20 IN STOLEN BASES
Utah Valley junior Skylar Cook is 20-for-20 in stolen bases this season. The 20 stolen bases rank second in the WAC and in the UVU single-season record books behind Morgan Summers Smith's record of 24 in 2016. Cook's 20 stolen bases are also the most stolen bases that a Wolverine has ever achieved without being caught.
