2018 WAC WOMEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT BRACKET ANNOUNCED
The Western Athletic Conference has announced the bracket for the 2018 WAC Women's Tennis Tournament on April 27-29 at the Mesa Tennis Center in Mesa, Ariz.
UT Rio Grande Valley enters the tournament as the top seed this year after finishing first in the regular season standings with a perfect 5-0 record. This is the first time they are going into the tournament as the first seed and will be enjoying the first round bye before they take on the winner between the No. 4 and No. 5 seed.
Kansas City is joining UT Rio Grande Valley with a ticket straight to the semifinals as the No. 2 seed going into the tournament. Kansas City finished conference play with a 4-1 record. They will have to wait until the quarterfinal match up between seeds No. 3 and No. 6 finishes before they know who they will be playing.
Taking the third seed position is NM State as they finished the season with a 2-3 conference record and will be competing April 27th in the quarterfinals.
As the host institution, Grand Canyon enters the tournament as the fourth seed with a conference record of 2-3 and will take on the fifth seeded Chicago State (1-4) in the first match in the quarterfinals that Friday.
Rounding out the seeding is Seattle U who went 1-4 in the two conference clusters and will take on NM State in the second match of the quarterfinals.
The tournament begins Friday, April 27th with both of the first round matches beginning at 9 a.m. local time. Admission and parking is free for this event.

2018 WAC MEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT BRACKET ANNOUNCED

Kansas City looks to defend last year's tournament title as the top seed as they finished the season with a perfect 5-0 record in WAC play. They will have an extra day of rest since they have earned a first round bye before they take on the winner between the No. 4 and No. 5 seed in the semifinals.
NM State will join Kansas City with a ticket straight to the semifinals as the No. 2 seed going into the tournament. NM State finished conference play with a 4-1 record. They will have to wait until the quarterfinal match up between seeds No. 3 and No. 6 finishes before they know who they will be playing.

Tournament Location Change (AGAIN)
The tournament will still be hosted by Grand Canyon, but it will be held at the Mesa Tennis Center instead of competing at the Phoenix Tennis Center.
Players of the Week- April 16-22
Kansas City's singles players Airam Castellano and Chicago State's Mariya Kostyuk, and Kansas City's doubles team Airam Castellano and Alex Pozo and Grand Canyon's doubles team Lana Rinaldi and Emilia Occhipinti have been named the Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for April 16-22.
Castellano, a senior from Gran Canaria, Spain, defeated the top singles player from Saint Louis this past weekend in preparation for the upcoming conference tournament. With a score of 6-4, 6-4, he has won eight of his last nine matches and tallied 17 victories over the season.
Kostyuk, a senior from Kyiv, Ukraine, produced a three-set victory at No. 1 singles in her final collegiate home match this past weekend. She defeated her opponent from Valparaiso 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.
Castellano, a senior from Gran Canaria, Spain, and teammate Pozo, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., paired together this weekend to defeat Saint Louis's top duo 7-5 this past weekend. The pair have won three straight matches as they enter into the conference tournament and have won nine of the last 11.
Rinaldi, a senior from Belgium, and partner Occhipinti, a sophomore from Ragusa, Italy, picked up a win against Northern Arizona on senior day. They defeated NAU's top duo 7-5 for their ninth win of the season and their fourth in a row.
Other male singles nominees: NM State's Christofer Goncalves was victorious over Western New Mexico's top singles player 6-3, 3-6, 6-5.
Other female singles nominees: Grand Canyon's Ludouica Infantino defeated Northern Arizona's sixth seeded athlete 6-4, 6-3… Kansas City's Aliona Ladutska picked up her 18th win with a victory over Saint Louis's top singles athlete 6-1, 6-1.
Other male doubles nominees: NM State's Mauri Benitez/Christofer Goncalves defeated Western New Mexico's top pair 6-2.
Other female doubles nominees: Chicago State's Mariya Kostyuk/Katarina Drazic downed Valparaiso's top pair 6-1… Kansas City's Aliona Ladutska/Grace Ball defeated the second seed from Saint Louis 6-2.
2018 WAC Tournament
The 2018 WAC Men's and Women's Tennis Tournaments will be hosted by Grand Canyon on April 27-29 in Phoenix. All six teams will compete in the Tournament as the first round will be No. 4 seed against No. 5 seed and No. 3 seed takes on No. 6 seed. No. 1 and No. 2 seeds earn a ticket straight to the semifinals. The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the WAC representative. The reigning tournament champion for the men and women is Kansas City as they defeated NM State 4-3 in men's and 4-1 in women's in the Championship match last year.
2017 ITA REGIONALS
The ITA Regional Championships will feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country.
