NMSU's Chanachai Battles Weather in Strong Finish at NCAA Regional

MADISON, Wis. - The final round of the NCAA Regional on the University Ridge Golf Course was plagued by wind and rain for most of Wednesday. Despite the conditions, New Mexico State women's golfer Pun Chanachai posted her best personal round with a 75 (+3) on day three to finish with a total score of 228 (+12) and tie for 67th.

Chanachai battled wild weather for the majority of the day but still managed to finish with 13 holes for par and added a birdie on the par-5 16th hole before the day was done. At the end of the tournament, the sophomore finished with 35 holes for par and four birdies.

Following the tournament, the six teams advancing to the NCAA Championship in Stillwater, Okla. are No. 4 Duke, Virginia, No. 6 USC, No. 12 Arizona State, Ohio State and No. 13 Northwestern. The three golfers from the Madison regional advancing as individuals are Nicole Schroeder (Oregon State), Gabby Curtis (Wisconsin) and Erin Harper (Indiana).

At season's end, Chanachai wraps up her sophomore campaign with a 72.97 stroke average after 34 rounds of play. The Bangkok, Thailand native had six top-10 finishes, including three first-place honors during the 2017-18 season.
