STILLWATER, Okla.- The Kansas City ‘Roos women's tennis team's season came to an end on Friday as they fell 4-1 to the eighth-seeded Oklahoma State Cowgirls in Stillwater, Okla.
The ‘Roos (15-10) fell behind early as they dropped the doubles point to the Cowgirls (20-4) who got wins on courts one and two.
The Cowgirls received their first singles point as the number four seed took down sophomore Yana Grechkina 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman, Grace Ball became the first ever female ‘Roo to win a match in the NCAA Tournament as she took down the Cowgirl opponent in two sets 6-0, 6-1. With the win, she cut the Cowgirls lead to 2-1.
The Cowgirls got wins on courts three and one to take home the 4-1 win.
Junior, Katie Fries was on court two as her match went unfinished but had fallen behind 6-1, 4-3 before the match was called over. Sophomore, Thanushree Vale was also fighting her opponent on the fifth court but was trying to come back from behind 6-2, 4-1 before the match was complete.
The Cowgirls will next face Tulsa on Saturday with a chance to move on to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the next round of the NCAA Championships.
