STANFORD, Calif.- The NM State men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Saturday with a 4-0 loss to No. 4 Stanford at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium in Stanford, Calif.
The Aggies (16-10) fell behind early as they dropped the doubles point to the Cardinal (22-3) who got wins on courts two and three.
In singles, the Cardinal got wins on courts four, five and then three to put away the match.
Senior, Christofer Goncalves was trying to fight his way back on the top court after falling 6-4, 3-1 before the match went unfinished. Junior, Stijn de Haan battled his No. 2 opponent but still dropped the first set 7-5 and was still working hard for a win as his match was retired with him down 3-2. On the sixth court freshman, Louis Menard also fell behind 6-4, 2-1 before the match was won by Stanford.
The Cardinal will next face Ole Miss on Sunday with a chance to move on to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the next round of the NCAA Championships.
