Four WAC Players Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Region
GREENSBORO,N.C. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams with four WAC baseball players receiving the honor.
NM State teammates Jonathan Groff and Kyle Bradish were each named to the Midwest All-Region Second Team. Groff was named 2018 WAC Pitcher of the Year and finished the season with a 11-3 record in 16 starts. Bradish set a new school record for strikeouts in a season with 140, going 9-3 with a 2.67 ERA, and was drafted in the fourth round of the MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels.
Grand Canyon's Quin Cotton was named West All-Region Second Team after being named WAC Player of the Year. The sophomore outfielder hit .390 with 19 doubles, five triples and five home runs to go with 43 RBIs as he helped lead the Lopes to their second-straight WAC regular season title.
Sacramento State's Austin Root was also named West All-Region Second Team after posting an 11-3 record for the Hornets. He was a Second Team All-WAC selection at starting pitcher and also earned All-Tournament honors in Mesa.
