GCU's Flannigan and Marshall Advance to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
DENVER- Grand Canyon's Marcus Flannigan and Scott Marshall both ranked in the top 12 competitors at the West Preliminaries in Sacramento, Calif. and earned a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Flannigan, a graduate student from Chandler, Ariz. placed 12th in the men's long jump event with a mark of 7.64 meters. It was one centimeter that made the difference in Sacramento as the person in 13th place had a jump of 7.63 meters.
Marshall, a redshirt senior from Tempe, Ariz., placed sixth in the men's pole vault event with a mark of 5.25 meters. The top eight competitors all had the same best jump and placing was determined by the amount of missed jumps each student-athlete had leading up to the final attempt.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held in Eugene, Ore. and will take place June 6-9th.
