GCU's Prudhomme earns national recognition
NEW YORK – Grand Canyon's Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach, Gregory Prudhomme, received the Steve Wilkinson College Coach of the Year Award at the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) general membership meeting on Friday.
In just four years of NCAA Division I-level coaching, Prudhomme has led Grand Canyon to three WAC regular-season titles. His most recent achievement was guiding the women's team to a WAC championship in 2017. He has also been recognized as the WAC Coach of the Year the past four years. Prudhomme is a former recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Coach of the Year after leading the GCU men to a top 25 ranking in just their third season as a program.
"I am very honored and humbled to have received this award," Prudhomme said. "The recipients of the Steve Wilkinson College Coach of the Year from all of the previous years along with the outstanding organization that the USPTA is makes this a special award. I am grateful to the many people in my life that have supported, assisted and made my coaching career possible. Earning this award was made possible by a collaborative effort from my family, my friends, my students and players, the executives and athletic administration at GCU, my coaching mentors and the USPTA."
