WAC Cross Country Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – Seattle U's Nathan Pixler and UT Rio Grande Valley's Thalia Polanco have been named the Western Athletic Conference men's and women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Sept. 3 - 9.
Pixler, a sophomore from Sammamish, Wash., led the Redhawks in his Seattle U debut, placing 22nd at the Sundodger Invitational. He finished the 8,000-meter course in 25:42.70 to finish middle of the pack amongst runners from several nationally-ranked teams. As a team, the Redhawks were fourth.
Polanco, a senior from Lyford, Texas, finished 51st in the 4,000-meter race at the Norry Hersey Rice Invitational in Houston. She covered the course in 16:04 to lead the UTRGV women to a 10th-place team finish.
Other Men's Nominees: UT Rio Grande Valley's Alexandre Moret made his UTRGV debut at the Norry Hersey Rice Invitational, finishing 24th in a time of 21:06.9 over the 4-mile course.
Other Women's Nominees: Seattle U's Rachel Kastama was the top finishing Redhawk at the Sundodger Invitational, placing 40th in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 23:46.30.
