DENVER – CSU Bakersfield Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Marcus Brown has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee for a three-year appointment.

Brown will assist the Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee in making a determination of facts related to the certification of a prospective student-athlete's amateur status. Case reviews will come to Brown and his fellow committee members when an institution appeals the NCAA certification team's initial assessment.

Common issues addressed by the committee include contracts with professional teams, salary for participating in athletics, prize money above actual and necessary expenses, play with professionals, tryouts, practice, or competition with a professional team, benefits from an agent or prospective agent, agreement to be represented by an agent and delayed initial full-time collegiate enrollment to participate in organized sports competition.

The NCAA Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee consists of 15 members comprised of professionals from various Division I institutions and conference offices.

Brown came to Bakersfield before the start of the 2011-12 academic year. He oversees athletics compliance, student-athlete development, and the diversity and inclusion programs. He is the sport administrator for CSUB baseball and cross country/track and field.
