WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Northern Arizona's Elisa Rodriguez and Tatiana Kurach have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 8-14.

Rodriguez, a sophomore from Phoenix, Ariz., snagged first and three second-place finishes in a tri-meet against Northern Colorado and Kansas. The Lumberjacks defeated WAC competition in Northern Colorado, 172-117, but fell to Kansas 197-101. Rodriguez finished best in the 50 freestyle recording a 23.46, ranking her ninth best in the WAC this season. She earned runner-up in the 100 freestyle (51.73) and swam in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay as they both placed second.

Kurach, a senior from Saint Petersburg, Russia, led the Lumberjacks on the diving side of events in a split against Northern Colorado and Kansas. She earned second on both boards. Kurach tallied the most points in the 1-meter posting 302.75. In the 3-meter she earned a score of 298.80.

Other swimmer nominees: Grand Canyon's Agueda Cons-Gestido won the 500 and 1,000 meter freestyle events in her GCU debut… Maddy Moore of Northern Colorado won the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly against NAU placing second and fourth overall in the meet.

Other diver nominees: Raina Brommer of NM State qualified for NCAA Diving Zones on both boards as she earned two second-place finishes against Idaho… Northern Colorado's Celeste Llona placed eighth on both dives against Northern Arizona.
