WAC Men's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER –  CSU Bakersfield's Loren Gillilan and UNLV's Jesse Cawley have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 8-14.
 
Gillilan, a junior from Fort Collins, Colo. dominated in his two individual events as the 'Runners traveled to Las Vegas to take on UNLV. Gillilan swam in the 100 and 200 fly, winning both races by a combined 4.08 seconds. He also posted the fastest time in the conference in both the 100 fly (47.56) and 200 fly (1:50.40). On top of the impressive individual performance, Gillilan helped the 'Runners capture first place in the 400 medley relay (3:19.60). The team of Gillilan, Kris Rogic, Antonio Milin and Ryan Brimer currently hold the fastest 400 medley relay time among the conference.
 
Cawley, a junior from Portland, Ore., led his team to a dominating win over CSU Bakersfield as he took first in both diving events. Cawley posted the top score in the 1-meter dive (305.65) and grabbed his second gold of the day when he won the 3-meter diving event (329.40). The Oregon native started is coming off a third-place finish in the 3-meter event and a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter event at the WAC Championships last year.
 
Other swimmer nominees: California Baptist's Jacob Leahy took first in the 50 free (20.65) at the Malibu Invite as the Lancers took on Texas Christian at Pepperdine University... Greg Raper of Seattle U helped his team collect first-place finishes in both the 400 free relay (3:06.35) and 200 free relay (1:24.30) at the Logger Relays in Puget Sound, Wash... UNLV's Cameron Castro tabbed first-place finishes in the 1000 free (9:37.07) and 500 free (4:37.44) as UNLV defeated CSU Bakersfield 194-104.
 
Other diver nominee: CSU Bakersfield's Sam Stinson took second in the 1-meter diving event (281.70) in his collegiate debut against UNLV.
