WAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – CSU Bakersfield's Mikayla Popham and Idaho's Heather Carbon have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 29-Nov. 4.
 
Popham, a freshman from Sunshine Coast, Australia, picked up three first-place finishes as the Roadrunners took on California Baptist and Pomona-Pitzer. She recorded the top time in the 200 individual medley (2:06.22), 500 freestyle (5:00.10) and 200 freestyle (1:51.12). Popham's 200 IM, 500 freestyle and 200 freestyle times are each the second-fastest times in the conference this season. Popham also anchored the 'Runners first-place 200 medley relay team. 
 
Carbon, a senior from Moses Lake, Wash., recorded the top scores in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events as Idaho defeated Northern Colorado by a score of 152 to 148. Carbon scored a 281.25 on the 1-meter board and a 275.52 on the 3-meter board. Both dives mark the top scores in the conference thus far.
 
Other swimmer nominees: California Baptist's Faith Brazil took gold in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:05.99 and 2:21.31, respectively... Rylie Jones of Idaho finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:55.41) and the 100 butterfly (56.61)... Northern Arizona's Elisa Rodriguez swam to top-two finishes in the 100 freestyle (51.51) and 50 freestyle (23.47)... Allison Plomondon of Seattle U picked up first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (27.74) and 100 freestyle (1:00.49) as the Redhawks outswam Simon Fraser.
 
Other diver nominees: California Baptist's Savannah Uhlir snagged gold in the 1-meter diving event in the Lancers tri-dual with CSU Bakersfield and Pomona-Pitzer... Jenny Cheetham of Northern Arizona managed first-place dives on the 3-meter and 1-meter boards as the Lumberjacks took on New Mexico.
