WAC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Announced
DENVER – Kansas City's Sommer Herner has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for Dec. 2-9.
Herner, a sophomore from St. Joseph, Mo., finished the week with a pair of top-two finishes at the 2019 Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in Maryville, Mo. She took first in the 1000 meter run with a time of two minutes and 54.46 seconds. She also took home silver in the mile run, clocking in at 4:57.13. Herner's mile time would have been the third-fastest time in the conference just a year ago.
Other track nominee: Utah Valley's Calli Adamson notched a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter dash (7.26) while also leading her team to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay (4:18.57) at the Weber State Invitational.
