MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: NOV. 18-24
California Baptist's Evan Honer has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Diver of the Week, respectively, for Dec. 9-15.
 
Honer, a freshman from Surprise, Ariz., took home gold in the 1-meter diving event at the UNLV Invitational. Honer posted a 285.75 in the prelims and a 305.55 in the finals to finish ahead of the field. This mark was just shy of his season-best of 309.30.
 
WOMEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: NOV. 18-24
CSU Bakersfield's Autumn D'Arcy and California Baptist's Kiree Lowe have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Dec. 9-15.
 
D'Arcy, a sophomore from Redlands, Calif., went a perfect three-for-three in her individual events over the weekend. She picked up a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle (23.84), the 100 freestyle (51.78) and the 100 butterfly (55.50). D'Arcy managed three of the 'Runners four total wins as the team fell to Fresno State. The sophomore also helped lead the CSUB 200 medley relay team to a second-place finish, touching at 1:47.63.
 
Lowe, a Sophomore from Clovis, Calif., earned the Lancer's top dive as she took home silver in the three-meter event. Lowe scored a 248 in prelims and landed a 244 in the finals to claim the second spot. The Lancers competed at the UNLV Invite against competition from UNLV, Fresno Pacific, Pacific, and Linfield College.
 
OTHER ATHLETES OF THE WEEK NOMINEES 
Other men's diver nominee: Jesse Cawley of UNLV notched a third-place finish in the 1-meter event with a score of 280.50.
 
Other women's swimmer nominee: California Baptist's Rebeca Oviedo notched a pair of top-five finishes as she finished second in the 500 freestyle event (4:54.15) and fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:05.06).
 
Other women's diver nominee: CSU Bakersfield's Lauren Carson finished the weekend with a silver in the 1-meter event (189.07) and bronze at the 3-meter height (182.32).
 
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
The CBU men's team competed against UNLV and others at the UNLV Invite over the week. The Lancers took second with 1,054 points, nearly 500 points ahead of third-place Pacific (556) On day one, the team of Josh Walters, Kyle White, Matthew Niculae and Jacob Leahy earned gold for the Lancers in the 200 freestyle (1:20.99). Sean Foster chipped in with a win in the 100 breaststroke (55.32). Foster also teamed up with Leahy, Walters and Niculae to land the Lancers' second relay win as they took first in the 200 medley relay (1:27.72), coming in only .07 of a second behind the school record. Quinn Birtles added a win in the 200 butterfly (1:47.69). On the diving side, Evan Honer took first in the 1-meter event with a score of 305.55, less than four points shy of his season-best.
 
The Lancer women's team joined the men in Las Vegas at the UNLV Invite where they took second with 1,047 points. Sophomore Rebeca Oviedo was the women's highest point scorer as she came away with a first-place finish in the 1650 freestyle (16:49.61). Oviedo also secured three second-place finishes at the three-day invite. Isabella Rhodes had a strong meet, led by a second-place finish in the 100 individual medley (57.13). Rhodes was joined by Rita Smirnova, Hannah Houlton, Mackenzie Degn to take second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:22.35. The women's divers were paced by Kiree Lowe as she was the runner-up in the 3-meter event with 244 points in the finals. The Lancers managed four of the top-six positions at the 3-meter height. In the 1-meter event, Savannah Uhlir turned in the top dive as she finished second with a score of 243.85.
 
CSU BAKERSFIELD
The 'Runners women's team traveled to Fresno, Calif., to take on a strong Fresno State squad. CSU Bakersfield managed four first-place finishes but ultimately fell to the Bulldogs by a score of 104-192. Despite the loss, Autumn D'Arcy shined as she took first in the 50 freestyle (23.84), 100 freestyle (51.78) and 100 butterfly (55.50). Mikayla Popham touched first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.50, marking the 'Runners fourth win of the dual. Jayssie Haynes also performed well as she earned a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle (10:27.84) and a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.89). The Roadrunner's divers were led by Lauren Carson and Madison Gay with both earning podium spots in the 1-meter event. Carson scored a 189.07 while Gray earned a score of 142.42.
 
NM STATE
The Aggie women's swimming and diving team competed in San Antonio over the weekend where they earned a dominating first-place team win. The NM State swimmers and divers combined for 582.2 points as they defeated Incarnate Word (545.5) and Division III Trinity College (552.9). As a team, they notched eight first-place finishes, nine second-place finishes and six third-place finishes. The 200 medley relay team of Anabel Ivanov, Ashley Reynolds, Reagan Nentwich and Neza Kocijan started the day with a first-place finish, reaching the wall at 1:44.97. Junior Katherine Harston won the 1000 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle to add three more golds. Skylar Welle kept things going with first-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.94) and 200 breaststroke (2:24.00). In the 50 freestyle, Aimee Burton (23.76)narrowly out-touched her teammate Airam Olivia-Aun (23.78) to give the Aggies the top two spots. For the Aggie divers, Italia Aranzabal led the way with first-place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 275.90 and 267.00, respectively.
 
UNLV
The UNLV men competed in the UNLV Invite alongside California Baptist, Fresno Pacific, Pacific and Linfield College. The Rebels claimed first with 1,281 points. Ogi Maric led the Lancers as he took first in the 200 individual medley (1:47.61), 200 freestyle (1:36.61) and 100 individual medley (50.06). The squad of Panos Bolanos, Sam Willstrop, Bryan Chavez and Richard Szilagyi earned a first-place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:12.51). Bolanos and Chavez also earned individual victories in the 100 backstroke (48.78) and 100 butterfly (48.12), respectively. Senior Hayden Hemmens and Freshman Christopher Mykannen impressed as they went one-two in the 500 freestyle, respectively. Hemmens reached the wall at 4:25.27 while Mykkanen came in at 4:26.23. Mykkanen also added a first-place finish in the 1650 freestyle (15:27.60). Ivan Zukov notched first-place finishes in both the 400 individual medley (3:54.53) and 200 breaststroke (2:00.24). The final day concluded with a win in the 400 freestyle relay as Szilagyi, Chavez, Bolanos and Hemmens combined to reach the wall at 2:56.46. Jesse Cawley led the way for the Rebel divers as he finished with two top-three finishes. Cawley posted a 280.50 in the 1-meter event to finish third while also finishing third in the 3-meter event with a score of 288.80.
