Seattle U's Terrell Brown has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 23 through Dec. 29.

 

Brown, a senior guard from Seattle, averaged 19.5 points to go with 4.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game in a split against Long Beach State and Saint Mary's. Against Long Beach State, he was 6-of-11 from the field for 17 points, adding eight assists and four steals in a 79-57 win at home. Brown kept the Redhawks in the game at Saint Mary's, finishing with a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds with three assists and a block in a road loss. The national leader in field goals made with 121, he has led SU in scoring in 13-of-15 games this season, while surpassing the 20-point mark eight times.

 

Other nominees included: California Baptist center Glenn Morison posted his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 92-75 win over Ottawa (Ariz.) on Saturday … NM State guard Trevelin Queen flirted with a triple-double in a lopsided win over Northern New Mexico, finishing with 17 points, eight assists and seven steals in the 104-30 victory.

 

Seattle U's Terrell Brown leads the NCAA in both field goals attempted (280) and field goals made (121) ... NM State picked up its first win over an SEC program since Dec. 29, 1994 when it beat Mississippi State on Dec. 22. UTRGV's Jordan Jackson earned all-tournament team honors at the Islander Invitational after averaging 19.0 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game ... Seattle U's Myles Carter poured in a career-high 37 points on 11-of-12 shooting and 15-of-17 from the free throw line against Pacific (Ore.). He also matched his career high with 15 rebounds in the game ... Kansas City's Brandon McKissic scored a career-high 27 points in win against Avila, including 23 in the first half ... Against Western New Mexico, NM State's Rice topped his career-high in points before the first half came to a close and ended the night with a team-high 21 points ... Utah Valley's White scored a career-high 25 points with a career-high 13 rebounds for his first-ever double-double against Westminster ... CSU Bakersfield's Shawn Stith racked up 26 points and eight boards against South Dakota State. He got to the free throw line 25 times and sank 22 of his attempts ... Seattle U's Brown was just shy of a triple double with a 16-point, 8-rebound, 9-assist effort against Pacific Lutheran. He then scored a career-high 31 points against Eastern Washington on Nov. 9 for the first 30-point game by a Redhawk since Dec. 4, 2017 ... in UTRGV's loss to South Dakota State, Levi had four steals, as many steals as SDSU's entire team.

 

California Baptist leads the WAC in scoring (82.7), scoring margin (+11.7), free throw percentage (.771), field goal percentage defense (.412), three-point field goal percentage (.381), rebounding (41.9), assists (15.8), assist-turnover ratio (1.2), defensive rebounds (30.8) and three-pointers per game (10.4), while CSU Bakersfield is tops in rebounding margin (+9.5) and offensive rebounds (13.7). NM State leads the WAC in scoring defense (59.7) and rebounding defense (28.9), while UT Rio Grande Valley is tops in steals (8.8) and turnover margin (+5.25). Kansas City leads the WAC in field goal percentage (.459), while Utah Valley is tops in blocks (5.7). Seattle U is the leader in three-point field goal defense (.302).

 

Individually, Seattle U's Terrell Brown leads the WAC in scoring (20.5), while California Baptist's De'jon Davis is tops in rebounding (8.7), field goal percentage (.592) and defensive rebounds (6.2). CBU teammate Milan Acquah is the leader in assists (6.5) and NM State's Trevelin Queen holds the top spot in steals (1.9). Chicago State's Xavier Johnson has the top free-throw percentage (.884) and UTRGV's Connor Raines is the leader in three-point field goal percentage (.522). CBU's Ferron Flavors Jr. is tops in three-pointers made (3.2) and Utah Valley's Emmanuel Olojakpoke is the blocks leader (2.8). CSUB's Czar Perry holds the top assist/turnover ratio (2.5) and Kansas City's Javan White is the leader in offensive rebounds (2.6). Grand Canyon's Jovan Blacksher Jr. is the leader in minutes played, average 35.9 per game.

 

UT Rio Grande Valley junior Javon Levi currently ranks fifth in program history in career steals with 169. He is seven shy of third place and 14 away from second.
