GCU's Day, UVU's Maas Named Academic All-America®

DENVER - Taking care of business both on and off the pitch, a pair of WAC men's soccer players have been named Academic All-America® by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Grand Canyon senior defender Austin Day was honored for the second-straight season, earning first-team honors after garnering third-team honors in 2018. A graduate student working on his MBA, Day started all 17 matches for the Lopes, posting four assists in 1,375 minutes played.

Utah Valley junior midfielder Zach Maas was also recognized, earning third-team honors while posting a 3.87 grade-point average as an exercise science major while also helping the Wolverines advance to the WAC tournament title match. Maas scored six goals and assisted on five others in 20 matches played.

Of the 34 members on the Academic All-America® Division I men's soccer teams, 11 boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.96, with the entire men's team holding a collective average GPA of 3.92.
