WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Grand Canyon's Marina McInelly and Northern Arizona's Christina Torrente have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 28-Feb. 4.

McInelly, a sophomore from Gilbert, Ariz., swept the breaststroke events and swam in a first-place 400 medley relay. She won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.78 and the 200 in 2:20.63. Her time in the 100 breaststroke broke her previous home pool record of 1:04.38.

Torrente, a senior from Redmond, Wash., won the 1-meter and 3-meter dives at the Lumberjack Diving Invite. She took gold on the 1-meter with a score of 611.50. On the 3-meter she tallied 593.10 points for first. She finished fifth on the platform, best for NAU.

Other swimmer nominees: Northern Colorado's Rose Saya won the 200 and 500 freestyle by over a second… Allison Plamondon of Seattle U won the 50 freestyle and claimed runner-up in the 100 freestyle.

Other diver nominees: Emily Dunkerson of California Baptist took third on the platform dive at the Air Force Diving Invite … Grand Canyon's Menna El-Midany placed top-three in the 1- and 3-meter dives… Janelle Lucas posted the seventh-best platform dive score in program history while taking gold… NM State's Raina Brommer led the Aggies in the platform event placing fourth at the AFA Invite… Celeste Llona of Northern Colorado recorded career-best scores in the 1- and 3-meter dives.
