WAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – California Baptist's Anett Somogyi has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, respectively, for March 5-11.
Somogyi, a junior from Veszprem, Hungary, recorded the fastest 5,000-meter time in the NCAA crossing at 16:26.78. She took first at the Occidental Distance Carnival. Somogyi destroyed her old personal-best by more than 40 seconds and sits in second on the all-time school record list.
Other track nominees: Chicago State's Brenda Jepkoech broke the school record in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:56.22… Riley Slayton of CSU Bakersfield notched the fourth-best NCAA time in the 400-meter hurdles taking first with a time of 62.83.
