DENVER – Kansas City's McCain Schellhardt and California Baptist's Samantha Martirez have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Golfer of the Week for March 13 to March 19.

Schellhardt, a junior from Edmond, Okla. (Edmond Memorial HS), tied for medalist honors and helped the Roos win the team title at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix. The defending WAC individual champion fired three sub-par rounds to finish in a tie with Columbia's Derek Kim for top honors. After firing a 2-under-par 69 to open the tournament, he shot back-to-back rounds of 3-under-par 68 to finish 8-under-par for 54 holes. As a team, UMKC ran way with the title, finishing 23-under-par to win by 14 strokes over second-place UT Rio Grande Valley.

Martirez, a junior from Manggahan Pasig City, Philippines (Master's Academy), led CBU to its second tournament victory of the season at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational last week. She shot 2-over-par 146 to tie for fourth place in the tournament after opening 1-under-par 71 and then finished with a 3-over-par 75. It was Martirez' second top-10 finish this season but a season best for her. All five Lancers finished in the top 15 individually.
