WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN
CSU Bakersfield's Curtis Threlkeld has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 26- March 4.
 
Threlkeld, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., won the 800- and 400-meter races at the Beach Opener. He took first in the 800-meter with a time of 1:51.79, winning by over three seconds. In the 400, Threlkeld crossed at 48.63.
 
Other track nominees: California Baptist's Simon Bedard won the 3,000 meter run in 8:25.32 and set a personal best. 
 
THIS WEEK IN WAC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
CBU competed in the Riverside City College Invite over the weekend. They dominated in the 3,000 meter run taking the top six spots. Simon Bedard and Timothy Legemet took first and second, respectively. Bedard won with a time of 8:25.32. They both set personal records.
 
CSU BAKERSFIELD
The Roadrunners took home four golds from the Beach Opener. They were led by Curtis Threlkel who won the 800-meter in a time of 1:53.29 and the 400-meter in 48.63. Gabe Gaeta won the 400-meter hurdles and Julianne Finch tied for first on Pole Vault.
 
NATIONALLY RANKED
CSU Bakersfield's Curtis Threlkel leads all 800-meter runners nationally with his time of 1:53.29. He is also fifth-best throughout the nation in the 400-meter run.
 
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2019 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship will take place  in Orem, Utah May 9-11. Utah Valley is set to host at the Hal Wing Track & Field.
