CALIFORNIA BAPTIST'S KINGSLEY NAMED WAC GOLFER OF THE MONTH
California Baptist's Harrison Kingsley has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for Feb. 27 to March 5.

Kingsley, a freshman from Murrieta, Calif. (Murrieta Valley HS), fired three sub-par rounds to take second with a 9-under-par 207 at the Sacramento State Invitational and lead the Lancers to their third-straight top-five team finish. After firing a 4-under-par 68 to open tournament action, he carded a 1-under-par 71 in the second round and came back with another 4-under-par 68 in the final round to move up four spots on the individual leaderboard to finish just one stroke back of the lead. As a team, the Lancers were 2-over-par for the tournament to take fourth among 15 teams competing.

Other men's nominees: Grand Canyon's Filip Lundell was under par all three rounds of the Sacramento State Invitational, shooting a 7-under-par 209 to finish in a tie for fourth place … Seattle U's Gabe Spach led the Redhawks at the Sacramento State Invitational, shooting a 1-over-par 217 to tie for 21st place.

ON THE TEE
It's a big week around the WAC with seven of the eight teams in action. Utah Valley opens up the week on Sunday at the Bandon Dunes Championship, hosted by Gonzaga in Bandon, Ore. Chicago State plays for the second time this spring on Monday in Florida, taking part in the Butler Spring Invitational in Jacksonville. UT Rio Grande Valley, NM State and Kanas City will all meet up at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas while California Baptist and Seattle U see each other again at The Olympic Club Intercollegaite in San Francisco.

BY THE NUMBERS
Grand Canyon holds the top team stroke average at 289.4 through 24 rounds. Kansas City is second at 291.7, followed by California Baptist in third at 292.4.  Individually, Kansas City's McCain Schellhardt has the top stroke average at 71.8 per round. California Baptist's Ben Hallam is second at 72.1, followed by Grand Canyon's Filip Lundell (72.2), NM State's Mike McGilton (72.7) and Grand Canyon's Jake Chanen (72.9).

WINNING WAYS
It's been a winning 2018-19 around the WAC with three times and five individuals earning the top spot in several differnet tournaments. In the fall, NM State won the team title and Mike McGilton won medalist honors at their own Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. UT Rio Grande Valley took home the team title at the Brooks Invitational, led by medalist Tae Itthiratchia.

The spring has already seen three individual champions as GCU's Filip Lundel won the UC Irvine Invitational, UTRGV's Tennoshin Ogawa won the La Tour Intercollegiate and Chicago State's Austin Dobrescu won the Alabama State Spring Kickoff. The UTRGV men's team also took home the team title at the La Tour Intercollegiate, giving the Vaqueros a pair of wins this season.

WELCOME TO THE WAC
California Baptist is the newest member of the Western Athletic Conference as the Lancers begin the four-year transition to NCAA Division I. While CBU will not be eligible to compete for the team title until the 2023 WAC Championship, the Lancers will be able to compete as individuals at the WAC Championship.

CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE
The 2018 WAC Men's Golf Championship heads to the Pacific Northwest and Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash. Built in 1966, Oakbrook Golf Club features hundreds of oak trees and immaculate turf conditions. In 2012, Oakbrook opened its doors to the public after 56 years of private operations.
