WAC Men's Golfer of the Week Announced
DENVER – California Baptist's Ben Hallam has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the week of April 10 to April 16.
Hallam, a senior from Cheshire, England (Shavington HS), ended the regular season in a big way, jumping six spots on the individual leaderboard to finish second at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate at Sandpiper Golf Club. After shooting even-par 72 in each of the first two rounds, he was one-under-par 71 in the final round to finish tied for second among 57 golfers. It was his fifth top-10 finish and second top-five finish of the season.
Other nominees: Chicago State's Austin Dobrescu averaged 70.5 strokes over two rounds to finish tied for third at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational in Macomb, Ill. … Grand Canyon's Michael Salazar tied for 14th at the El Macero Classic, shooting a 3-over-par 219 … NM State's Mike McGilton led the Aggies at the Bayou City Collegiate, shooting a 4-over-par 220 to tie for 22nd.
