WAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – CSU Bakersfield's Curt Threlkeld and Utah Valley's Albert MacArthur have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 16-22.

Threlkeld, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif., shaved more time off of his 800-meter personal-best. He finished top ten at the Mt.SAC Relays and hold the fastest time in the WAC at 1:48.93. Threlkeld ranks 42nd in the nation.

MacArthur, a junior from Port Orchard, Wash., recorded a top-five finish at the Mt. SAC Relays in the Long Jump at 7.48 meters. He also finished top-ten in the Triple Jump with a personal best of 15.64 meters. MacArthur ranks 25th in the Triple Jump and 27th in the Long Jump throughout the NCAA.

Other track nominees: California Baptist's Simon Bedard ran a 14:11.28 in the 5,000 meter, a personal record… Jason Fambrough of Kansas City notched the third-best WAC time in the 10,000 meter at 30.35.78… UT Rio Grande Valley's Brandon Sanders posted a time of 47.37 in the 400-meter to take second at the meet and place himself best in the conference.  

Other field nominees: Corbin Chronister of CSU Bakersfield finished top ten in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 60.42 meters, his second-best mark of the year… Grand Canyon's Moataz Hassan set the third-straight school record in the Shot Put reaching 16.33 meters… Lukas Van Der Watt jumped 4.95 meters in the Pole Vault to earn seventh at the Kansas Relays… UT Rio Grande Valley's Sky Tatum threw the fourth-best Discus mark in program history and second-best in the WAC at 49.90 meters.
