WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN
Seattle U's Jacques Hebert and Grand Canyon's Jorden Okyere have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 23-29.
Hebert, a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii, placed third in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 3:50.11. His time places him best in the WAC this season. Hebert also ran the 800-meter in 1:56.35, good for a personal-best.
Okyere, a freshman from Phoenix, Ariz., set a school record in the Discus and a personal record in the Hammer. He threw the Discus 49.55 meters placing him third in the WAC. He is fifth in the conference for the Hammer with a 49.08 meter mark.
Other track nominees: California Baptist's Simon Bedard took sixth out of 93 competitors logging a 3:52.10 1,500-meter time… Curt Threlkeld of CSU Bakersfield ran the 400-meter for the first time this season winning the event plus recording the second-best WAC-time… Grand Canyon's Adam Knuff remains ranked fourth in the 100 and seventh in the 200 in the WAC… Traezon Henderson of Kansas City took fourth in the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Invite… Utah Valley's Adrian Jones claimed his third victory of the 2019 season winning the 3,000-meter Steeplechase in 9:02.83… UT Rio Grande Valley's 4x400-meter relay team of Dimitris Levantinos, Max Carmona, Mariano Hernandez, and Brandon Sanders broke the program record finishing in 3:11.61.
Other field nominees: Perry Adderley of Kansas City placed top-five in all three throwing events as he continues to lead the conference in the Shot Put.
WOMEN
Grand Canyon's Knowledge Omovoh and Madelyn Lundberg have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 23-29.
Omovoh, a sophomore from Obinomba, Nigeria, notched personal records in the 200- and 400-meter dash. She took fourth in the 400 crossing at 53.83 and eighth in the 200 in 24.01. Omovoh leads the WAC in the 400 and is second-best in the 200. Omovoh's 400 time ranks 70th throughout the nation.
Lundberg, a sophomore from Phoenix, Ariz., recorded a personal-best and reached second-best in the program records with a Pole Vault of 4.07 meters. Her jump earned her first at the Desert Heat Classic and is best in the conference this season. Lundberg was just one centimeter off breaking Grand Canyon's record.
Other track nominees: California Baptist's Linda Palumbo earned third in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase… Malon Lee of Kansas City won the 100- and 200-meter dash at the Zach Kindler Wildcat Invite… NM State's Telecia Briscoe ran the 100-meter hurdles for the first time this season finishing in 13.88… Michelle Newblom of Seattle U ran a personal-best and ninth-best conference time in the 100-meter Hurdles… Utah Valley's Aisha Graham-Perez broke the school record and earned her third 800-meter victory this season beating her previous lifetime-best by a full three seconds… Ashley Hughes of UT Rio Grande Valley broke program records in the 200-meter and 4x400-meter relay.
Other field nominees: Kansas City's Traci Mills posted the second-best Long Jump and third-best Triple Jump in the conference… Yemisi Oroyinyin of NM State took fifth in the Hammer Throw reaching 54.62 meters, a personal best, and third in the program record books… UT Rio Grande Valley's Alexandrea Hurst broke the school record in the Shot Put and notched personal-bests in the Shot Put and Hammer.
THIS WEEK IN WAC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
The Lancer men had four top-20 finishes to highlight their time at the UC Irvine Steve Scott Invitational. Simon Bedard was best taking sixth in a 93-runner field. He finished in 3:52.10 in the 1,500-meter run. Timothy Legemet and Dennis Messmer took 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 800-meter. Zlatko Kozuhar was the last to finish top-20 taking 18th in the 1,500. The women also had four int he top-20. Anett Somogyi and Fruzsina Ladanyi ran the 1,500-meter taking sixth and seventh. Anna Mate and Karolina Iznerowicz rounded out the top-20 finishes for CBU taking 12th and 20th.
CSU BAKERSFIELD
Curt Threlkeld led the Roadrunners at the Steve Scott Invitational. He recorded a personal-best in the 400-meter run at 47.45. Threlkeld was the top college finisher and ranks eleventh best in the program records. Gabe Gaeta ran a season-best 52.9 in the 400-meter hurdles and the Runners' 4x400-meter relay finished sixth overall.
CHICAGO STATE
The Cougars competed in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
GRAND CANYON
Jordan Okyere broke the school mark for the Discus throw reaching 47.79 meters. His performance led the Lopes at the Arizona Desert Heat Classic. Naudia Dawson notched the third-best WAC-time in the 100-meter dash crossing in 11.82 seconds. Knowledge Omovoh and Dora Filipovic both recorded personal-bests in the 400-meter. Madelyn Lundberg jumped 4.07 meters in the Pole Vault winning the meet and posting the top mark in the conference. Jacob Lewis ran a 1:54.17 800-meter, seventh in the WAC. Sarah Root and Anthony Stennis posted personal-bests in the 100-meter and 400-meter Hurdles, respectively. Adrian King led GCU in the Long Jump jumping a collegiate-best and Nicole Cristobal followed suit in the Triple Jump. Samaria McDonald placed her name in the record books at third-best in the Hammer.
KANSAS CITY
The Roos left the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open with six new titles. Traci Mills won the Long Jump with a 6.03 meter mark. Her jump is third-best in school history and second-best in the WAC. Rebecca Finley won the Shot Put with a toss of 12.78 meters and Jada Steele took first in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.50 seconds. Perry Adderley led the men winning the Shot Put with a 15.80 meter throw.
NM STATE
NM State also competed at the Desert Heat Classic. Lashira Tremble took eighth in the 100-meter dash while Keosha Sanders took home 11th. Camira Haughton and Elizabeth Mendoza both notched tenth in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles, respectively. Haughton also took gold in the 400-meter dash. Crissey Amberg came in fifth and Nicolette Pacheco took eighth in the 800-meter run. The 4x100-meter relay finished out the running events claiming fourth. In the throws, Bristol O'Connor took eighth in the Discus and Yemisi Oroyinyin snatched fifth in the Hammer. Alyssa Watkins followed just behind Oroyinyin earning sixth. Kayli Farmer also reached top-ten taking eighth in the Javelin. Keyarha Wilson and Farmer snagged fifth and sixth in the High Jump and Triple Jump, respectively.
SEATTLE U
The Redhawks were led by their women's 4x100-meter relay as they broke the outdoor program record and took first at the Oregon State High Performance Meet. 12 women set personal records at the meet. Michelle Newblom notched one in the 100-meter hurdles earning third and the ninth-best time in the WAC. Michaela Moore took fourth in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200. Caylah Lunning snatched third in the 200-meter dash and Regie Grady finished in fourth in the 400. For the men, Jacques Hebert had the WAC-best time in the 1,500-meter run. Eight other men set personal records. Isaiah Payne finished fifth in the 100-meter and fourth in the 200-meter. The men's 4x100-meter relay earned runner-up with a time of 42.32.
UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY
UTRGV women's 4x400-meter relay set a new program record at 3:46.41. Ashley Hughes, who competed in the 4x400 relay also broke the 200-meter dash record finishing in 23.73 seconds. The men's 4x400-meter relay also set a program record crossing at 3:11.61. Alexandrea Hurst recorded first in the Shot Put followed by Samariae Bonds and Diamond Thomas in eighth and ninth. Dai'ja Coleman won the Triple Jump and Yashawn Hamilton finished best in the 100-meter dash.
UTAH VALLEY
The Wolverine women were led by Aisha Graham-Perez and Savannah Neuberger claiming first and second in the 800-meter. Courtney Peterson took second in the 400- and 200-meter dash. Brianna Duesenberry tied the UVU best in the High Jump and Maddy Beyeler notched personal-bests in the Javelin and Discus. Andre Jones was atop the podium in the 400-meter hurdles. Adrian Jones and Geofrey Kembo took first and third in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase. Albert MacArthur won third in the Long Jump and Sean York snagged third in the Javelin.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2019 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship will take place in Orem, Utah May 9-11. Utah Valley is set to host at the Hal Wing Track & Field.

On the field side of things, Corbin Chronister threw a personal best in the Hammer Throw reaching 198'5". He is ranked third-best in the nation and sixth all-time for the program.
