GCU's Chanen To Compete in NCAA Pullman Regional
INDIANAPOLIS - After earning his first WAC individual title, Grand Canyon junior Jake Chanen has been invited to participate in the NCAA Pullman Regional for the chance to advance to the NCAA Championship.
Chanen used a 4-under-par 67 in Sunday's second round to move atop the leaderboard and an even-par 71 on Monday was enough to hold onto the lead and earn medalist honors.
He will be one of five individuals at the Pullman regional, joining Thomas Hutchison (UC Davis), Zach Smith (UC Santa Barbara), Daniel O'Loughlin (Colorado) and Tim Widing (San Francisco). Also competing will be full squads from Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Texas A&M, UCLA, Brigham Young, Colorado State, Florida, Michigan State, Purdue, Kent State, Northern Colorado, Wright State and Iona.
To advance to the NCAA Championship at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, he will have to be the highest finishing individual not on one of the top five teams.
