Ward, Navarrette Hired by WAC
DENVER – Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced that Randi Ward and Michael Navarrette have joined the WAC staff. Ward is the Championships and Social Media Coordinator, while Navarrette is the Media Relations Intern for the 2019-20 school year.
Ward came to the WAC after spending the past year as a Communication Coordinator at the University of Denver, where she served as the primary media relations contact for the volleyball and women's lacrosse programs.
Ward graduated from Arizona with a degree in communication. She worked in the Arizona Athletics Media Relations department for three years, serving as the contact for the gymnastics team. Ward also completed a graphic design and social media internship with Special Olympics of Arizona.
Navarrette comes to the WAC after completing a one-year internship in the media relations office at NM State. While there, he helped with gameday operations, social media and helped with content for game notes and game day programs. He also inputted tennis results in Stat Crew for archival purposes.
Navarrette completed a social media internship with the Sun Bowl Association in 2018 where he generated graphics for multiple social media outlets. He also worked as a game statistician for the Sports USA radio broadcast of the 2018 Sun Bowl.
As an undergraduate, Navarrette was a newscaster and news writer for the NM State student television station News 22. He also participated in Broadcaster's Club and AdFed, a student organization that uses creative and strategic methods to further students' knowledge of the advertising business.
Navarrette earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with minors in marketing and advertising.
