ON THE COURSE
The 2019-20 women's golf season is underway with six of nine schools having already competed in their first tournament and the other three beginning in the next week. In upcoming action, Grand Canyon heads to Mobile, Ala. for the USA Intercollegiate, beginning on Saturday. On Sunday, both Kansas City and NM State will tee off at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Classic in Manhattan, Kan. Finally, on Monday, CSU Bakersfield heads to Big Sky Country for the Battle at Old Works in Anaconda, Mont., Chicago State stays local for the Loyola Fall Invitationa in Flossmoor, Ill. and Seattle U visits the palouse for the WSU Cougar Cup in Pullman, Wash.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
Through just one week of play, CBU's Jocelyn Chee holds the early stroke average at 71.0. NM State's Pun Chanachai is second at 72.0 followed by Utah Valley's Nathalie Irlbacher and Kaylee Shimizu, both at 72.3. As a team, NM State has the top stroke average at 293.0, followed by Utah Valley (295.7) and UT Rio Grande Valley (303.7).
 
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
California Baptist's Jocelyn Chee became the first medalist of the season, tying for the top spot at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic with an even-par 213 over 54 holes.
 
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO THE LONE STAR STATE
For the first time since 2004, the WAC Championship heads to Texas as Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville will play host to the conference tournament on April 26-28, 2020. Designed by Byron Nelson and Joe Finger, Riverhill has been host to over 40 USGA and Texas Golf Association events.
