TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Announced
DENVER – Utah Valley's Zane Farrer and Isaac Manning has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 6-12.
Farrer, a sophomore from Saratoga Springs, Utah, took home bronze in the 60-meter hurdle event (8.19) at the BYU Cougar Indoor Invitational. The solid time marks the third-best in the event in UVU program history and first for the WAC. Farrer also competed in the 60m and the 300m dashes, delivered tallied respective times of 7.33 and 37.03.
Manning, a sophomore from Philomath, Ore., took home gold in the Men's Heptathlon at the Idaho State Snake River Open. Manning tallied a personal record of 4,839 total points in the event. Manning's 4,839 score marks the fourth-best score in UVU men's track & field history. His 5.03m in the pole vault is a personal record and second place in the UVU record books.
Other track nominee: GCU's Trey Johnson finished with a top time in the 60-meter dash (6.78) at the Friday Night Duals. Johnson's 60-meter dash holds number one in the WAC.
Other track nominee: GCU's Jorden Okyere excelled this week in the shot put event (15.82m) which is second is school history and first in the WAC. Okyere also marked a school record in the weight throw event (17.49m), which is also first in the WAC.
