MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: JAN. 6- JAN. 12

Utah Valley's Zane Farrer and Isaac Manning has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Jan. 6-12.

Farrer, a sophomore from Saratoga Springs, Utah, took home bronze in the 60-meter hurdle (8.19) event at the BYU Cougar In­door Invitational. The solid time marks the third-best in the event in UVU program history and first for the WAC. Farrer also competed in the 60m and the 300m dashes, delivered tallied respective times of 7.33 and 37.03.

Manning, a sophomore from Philomath, Ore., took home gold in the Men's Heptathlon at the Idaho State Snake River Open. Man­ning tallied a personal record of 4,839 total points in the event. Manning's 4,839 score marks the fourth-best score in UVU men's track & field history. His 5.03m in the pole vault is a personal record and second place in the UVU record books.

Other track nominee: GCU's Trey Johnson finished with a top time in the 60-meter dash (6.78) at the Friday Night Duals. Johnson's 60-meter dash holds number one in the WAC.

Other track nominee: GCU's Jorden Okyere excelled this week in the shot put event (15.82m) which is second is school history and first in the WAC. Okyere also marked a school record in the weight throw event (17.49m), which is also first in the WAC.

 WOMEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: JAN. 6- JAN. 12

GCU's Niki Xydona and Alyson Schwartz has been named the Tick­etSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for January 6 - 12.

Xydona, a senior from Thiva, Greece, hustled hard this week in both of the track events she competed in. Xydona competed in the 60-meter hurdle race (9.14) , which placed 8th at the Friday Night Duals but now holds first for the WAC this season. Xydona also place 13th for the 200-meter (25.74) event and this time is second for the WAC this season. In addition to her track events Xydona participated in the long jump this meet. She jumped 5.68 meters in this event placing 4th during the meet, placing second overall in the WAC.

Schwartz, a junior from Phoeniz, Ariz., placed silver in the pole vault event with 3.81 meters which now holds first place for the WAC this season.

Other track nominee: Utah Valley's Emily Jones had a strong third-place finish in the 3000-meter run (10:22.30) with a personal best time at the BYU Cougar Indoor Invitational.

Other track nominee: Utah Valley's Berkley Berrett finished in the pole vault (3.40m), a personal best.
