GRAND CANYON
The Grand Canyon women's tennis team opened the season by hosting No. 5 Duke in a 7-0 loss. Freshman Natasha Puehse and sophomore Jana Weiss played their first matches in a GCU uniform. The duo were paired for a 6-2 loss at No. 2 doubles. New doubles pair Autum Prudhomme and Ludovica Infantino lost but fought hard in a 6-2 loss to the Blue Devils.
SEATTLE U
The Redhawk women traveled to Washington to compete this past weekend. Aranza Alvarez-Sanabria impressed for Seattle U, taking Washington to three sets in a 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 0-1 (7-10) heartbreaker in the number six singles slot . In doubles play, sophomores Martina Asciuto and Hannah Grossman squared off against winning two games to the Washington duo's six. Peggy Rooke and Jade Lancaster also partnered up for Seattle U, finishing their match with a score of 1-6.
