TicketSmarter WAC Tennis Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – Chicago State's singles player Jakov Suler and Grand Canyon's doubles team Valentin Lang and Can Franke have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week for Jan. 13 - 19.
Suler, a freshman from Zagrb, Croatia, posted a 6-4,3-6, 1-0(10-5) win over Wisconsin's No. 1 Lenard Soha to give the Cougars a win. Suler went up against Illnois State's No. 1 as well, but fell 6-3, 6-2.
Lang, senior from Mulhouse, France, and teammate Franke, a freshman from Bad Sooden-Allendorf, Germany, collected a win on thier doubles matches. The duo faced UC Riverside's Michael Blando, Jayson Blando and won 6-1.
Other male singles nominee: GCU's Maxim Kirsch came out victorious over UC Riverside, 6-3,7-5
Other male doubles nominees: Chicago State's Javier Sanchez Pradli and Pedja Kolaric played hard at No. 2 together but fell 6-1
