Chicago State
The Cougars fell to Wisconsin(6-1) and Illinois State (7-0) in the spring opener. Jako Suler was a light for the cougars, defeating Wisconsin's Lenard Soha at the No. 1 singles spot. He won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second set, 3-6. Suler took the match by winning the third-set tiebreaker, 10-5. At No. 2 singles, after dropping the first set 6-3, Jesus Plaza battled back and made the second set interesting before falling, 6-3, 7-5.
GRAND CANYON
The Lopes played strong in their loss against the Sun Devils. Julian Mueller returned to play this week and prevailed winning a set four, but strong Arizona State strong armed the singles winning the remaining five sets. Last week's Doubles of the Week Lorenzo Fucile and Can Franke fought hard, but lost 5-4. The Lopes lost a close match to UC Riverside, 4-3. GCU saw senior Valentin Lang and Franke won 6-1 at the top spot after the Highlanders won 6-1 at No. 3. Freddie Grant and Mueller for the Lopes at No. 2 dug a 4-1 hole and lost 6-2.
Seattle U
The Redhawks dual against Eastern Washington was postponed.
UTRGV
The Vaqueros opened the season with a 7-0 loss to Abilene Christian. Carlo Izurieta opened his match with a 7-6 win in his first set against Jonathan Sheehy at the No. 1 singles spot but fell in the next sets.
