Chicago State
The Chicago State women's tennis team fell short to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville this week. The Cougars took three of the six first-sets. Lizi Morogoshia had a 6-0 first set victory at No. 4. Dianan Borodina won her first set at No. 3 slot, 6-4.
Grand Canyon
The Lopes battle BYU but dropped 4-3 in a close one. GCU took the 1-0 lead with doubles duo Emilia Occhipinti and Celina Buhr, who collected a 6-2 win at No. 1. Duo Autum Prudhomme and Ludovica Infantino also took a win, 6-4 at No. The BYU Cougars captured more points in singles play.
Kansas City
The Roos lost against FIU. In singles, Yana Grechkina, Riddhi Sharma and Grace Ball were able to take a set from their Florida International counterparts, but the result was decided before any of the matches could finish.
SEATTLE U
Seattle U went up strong against Boise State but dropped 5-2. Martina Asciuto went 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, to win a point for Seattle U in singles play. Jade Lancaster did the same against the Broncos' 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). In No. 1 singles match, Hannah Gianan only just lost 5-7, 6-3, 0-1 (4-10). In doubles play, Gianan and Jillian Rasmussen teamed up finishing 3-6 in a close-fought loss.
Against Idaho State, Gianan started off singles play with a decisive 6-0, 6-4 win over. In the number two slot, Kyra Jung earned her win over Idaho State in three sets and a tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). Alisa Sabotic clinched a win of her own in three sets (6-1, 1-6, 6-2). Lancaster attempted a valiant comeback from a rough start by taking Angela Walker to three sets, but ultimately lost, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6. The dou of Asciuto and Grossman rode their chemistry and grit to a 7-6 (7-5) win over the duo. Jung and Rasmussen posted the exact same 7-6 (7-5) score to clinch the doubles point.
UTGRV
The Vaqueros women's tennis team closed out its weekend with a 1-6 loss to Stephen F. Austin University. The Vaqueros got their first doubles victory of the season as the duo of Alicia Thal and Kristyna Mamicova defeated SFA's duo 6-2 at No. 3 doubles but it was SFA who came away with the 1-0 lead after picking up wins on the other two doubles courts. In singles Katarina Sasaroga picked up her first victory of the season with a 7-5, 7-6 victory at the No. 2 spot. Ana Platisa took her match to three sets at the No. 4 spot. Platisa opened with a 7-5 victory in the first before falling 4-6 in the second. Platisa battled in the tiebreaker as she fell 7-10.
