Chicago State
The Chicago State men's tennis team fought against Saint Louis on Friday but came up just short dropping the contest, 4-3. In singles play, Jakov Suler collected his second consecutive win at No. 1 while Jesus Sanchez Pradillo won at No. 3. The Cougars won the doubles point for the first time spring season. The duo, Suler and Cody Wurzelbacher, defeated Saint Louis, 6-2 before Jesus Perez Plaza and Sanchez Pradillo earned the point with a convincing 6-1 victory.
GRAND CANYON
The Lopes lost 7-0 to Washington on Friday night. In doubles, Washington took the point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Freddie Grant and Julian Mueller found themselves down early 3-0 at No. 2 and were unable to recover in a 6-1 loss. David Weber and Laurent Magne won games at No. 3 but lost 6-3. The Grand Canyon men's tennis team finished the weekend with a 6-1 loss to Cal Poly in Seattle. David Weber won 6-4, 6-4 in singles at No. 3. Valentin Lang and Freddie Grant at No. 1 doubles won 6-1 in their first action together on the doubles court.
NM State
First match of the spring season NMSU holds victory over Western NM, 7-0. Nicholas Buitrago and Luis Flores set the pace with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 of doubles play. At No. 1 Louis Menard and Jordy Visser teamed up for a 6-3 victory that gave the Aggies the doubles point. In singles play, Buitrago won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 before Visser won 6-3, 6-0 at No 3. Sebastian Herrera clinched the win for the home team with a 6-1, 6-1 No 6.
Seattle U
On Friday The Redhawks lost to the Boise State team. Trenton Nield and Adrian Alvarez-Sanabria both finished their matches with scores of 3-6, 4-6. Lars Schmassmann fell 2-6, 1-6. Billy Givens-Jensen played his first singles match of the spring season, finished 1-6, 1-6. In doubles play, Alex Chan and Nield teamed up against the 50th-ranked doubles team in the country in Bayldon and Arca Costas, finishing 2-6 after a hard-fought battle.
On Saturday, agaisnt Idaho State, it was the same ending for Seattle U. Nield and Chan teamed up again to gain a 6-3 victory. In singles play, Givens-Jensen in the No. 5 slot giving his all in a 2-6, 3-6 result.
UTRGV
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis team fell 0-7 to Texas Tech. Alberto Mello took his match against No. 4 singles to three sets. After falling in the first set 0-6, Mello answered with a 6-2 win in the second before falling 3-6 in the third allowing Texas Tech to clinch the win. Samuel de Felipe Garcia opened his match at No. 2 singles with a 6-4 win in the first set but fell 6-4 in the second and 6-3 in the third.
