TicketSmarter WAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Announced
DENVER – Grand Canyon's Katie Scott has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 21 through Dec. 27.
Scott, a freshman from Carl Junction, Mo., collected her second straight player of the week award behind a monster performance against Arizona Christian. She recorded a Division-1 program-record 34 points on 13-of-21 from the field as she helped carry the Lopes to a 97-65 win over the Firestorm. Scott snagged 13 rebounds and added five steals and two assists en route to her second double-double of the season.
Other nominees included: Chicago State's Ifunanya Okoye posted a team-high 12 points, pulled down eight rebounds and tallied a block, a steal and an assist against SIUE… Dixie State's Breaunna Gillen finished with a team-high nine points and added a pair of assists, a block and a steal as the Trailblazers battled with Southern Utah… Seattle U's McKenzi Williams hit five triples as she exploded for 36 points to set a Redhawk DI program record in a shootout against Idaho… Tarleton's Alexa Hoy recorded a team-high 16 points, collected four boards and dished out three assists as the Texans hosted Eastern Michigan.
