WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MEN

Kansas City's Sam Tudor and Utah Valley's Larry Still has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for February 3-9. 

Tudor, a sophomore from Waterloo, Iowa, competed at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. Tudor ran in the 400m to clock a 48.88, placing 11th. The time is now Tudor's personal record and also best time in the WAC this season.

Still, a senior from Richland, Wash., competed at the Air Force Team Challenge this week. At the meet, Still earned gold in the Pole Vault to get a mark of 5.50m. The mark is now best in the WAC.

Other track nominees: GCU's David Kolar finished sixth in the 60m (6.91) and 28th in the 200m run (21.77)... Seattle U's Ansel Pendley-Griffin placed third in the mile (4:16.96)... UVU's Seth Dabb placed fourth in the 400m (49.12).

Other field nominees: GCU's Jorden Okyere competed in the Shot Put (16.76m) and the Weight Throw (18.03m)... Kansas City's Josh Benford marked a 2.10m in the High Jump which would be best in the conference if he already did not hold number one (2.12m).

WOMEN

New Mexico State's Brooke Wallace and Dascha Robinson has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for February 3-9.

Wallace, the senior from Baltimore, Maryland, competed at the UNM Collegiate Classic this week. Wallace ran in the 400m run,  where she placed sixth in the meet with a time of 55.99. The time is a new personal record best, third best in NMSU's history, amd now number one in the WAC this season. Wallace also ran in the 200m with a time of 25.29, which is top 10 in the WAC.

Robinson, the freshman from Miami, Florida, competed in the Triple Jump and Long Jump events this week at the UNM Collegiate Classic this week. Robinson landed 12.45m in the Triple Jump earning her sixth at the event and is now first, by almost a meter, in the WAC this season. She measured a 5.29m in the Long Jump.

Other track nominees: GCU's Alexa Hokanson set GCU record in the 600m (1:34.04)... Kansas City's Sommer Herner ran the mile (4:56.96)... Seattle U's Michelle Newblom ran the 60m hurdles (8.91) to earn gold and the 200m (26.55)... UVU's Mazzie Malaney ran in the 1mile (5:04.33) and 800m (2:25.52) events.

Other field nominees: CSUB's Julianne Finch competed in Pole Vault (3.50m)... GCU's Alyson Schwartz leads the WAC in Pole Vault (4.14m)... Kansas City's Brooke Jenkins competed in Long Jump (5.60m) and Triple Jump (11.30m).... UVU's Savannah Reilly Routsong competed in Shot Put (12.80m) and Weight Throw (15.95m).
