TicketSmarter WAC Men’s Golfer of the Week Announced
DENVER – Grand Canyon's Reece Nilsen has been named TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for Feb. 5 through Feb. 11.
Nilsen, a junior from Tucson, Ariz., led the Lopes to a third-place finish at the Orange County Collegiate Classic. Playing in his first tournament for GCU, he finished in fifth-place overall with a 2-over-par 218. Two of his three rounds came at or under par as just two of the 93 golfers in the field finished under par for the tournament.
Other nominees: California Baptist's Justin Cross tied for ninth at the Orange County Collegiate Classic, firing a 6-over-par 222 … Seattle U's Federico Gutierrez led the Redhawks to a third-place team finish at the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational, tying for 17th overall with a 2-over-par 146 … Utah Valley's Gabe Lysen shot on even-par 144 to tie for seventh at the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational in St. George, Utah.
