KANSAS CITY AND UTRGV HOLD HONORS THIS WEEK

Kansas City's Tom Kruse and UT Rio Grande Valley's men's doubles team Zane Korhs and Mateo Schmit have been named the Men's Western Athletic Conference Tennis Athletes of the Week for February 3-9.

Kruse, a senior from Flensburg, Germany, competed at the No. 2 slot against Witchita State this past week. Kruse took his match to three set, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Korhs, a junior from Dallas, Tx., and Schmit, a senior from Neuquen, Argentina, went 1-0 at the No. 3 this week. The duo grabbed their first doubles win of the season against Texas A&M Corpus Chrisi, 6-3.

Other male singles nominees: GCU's Justin Cvitanovic back from his ACL injury went 1-0 at No. 5 this week... UTRGV's Zane Korhs had a win at No. 5 taking his match to three sets (6-2,26,6-2).

Other male doubles nominee: GCU's Can Frank and Lorenzo Fucile won at No. 1 (6-3) against Stanford and their match against Pacific was clinched at 6-6.

 

THIS WEEK IN WAC MEN'S TENNIS

CHICAGO STATE

The Chicago State's men's tennis team played two matches on Saturday. The Cougars fell to Purdue, 4-0 and lost a close one to IUPUI, 4-3.

Against IUPUI, the Cougars clinched the doubles point with duos Jakub Zamorski and Javier Sanchez Pradillo at No. 3 (6-2) and Cody Wurzelbacher and Pedja Kolaric at No. 2 (6-3). In singles plays, Chicago's Zamorski at No. 5 defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-2 and Wurzelbacher defeated his opponent 6-3,6-3.

 

GRAND CANYON

The 'Lopes lost fell to Stanford on Friday, 4-0. The team did not win but duo Lorenzo Fucile and Can Franke won their set at No. 1 (6-3) making their record 5-0.

Later the team was defeated by Pacific, 4-2.

 

KANSAS CITY

The Kansas City's men's tennis' team lost thier match to Wichita State, 5-1.

 

SEATTLE U

The Seattle U's men's tennis team lost to Montana State, 4-0.

 

UTRGV

The UTRGV's men's tennis team fell to Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, 5-1. Zane Kohrs won in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 6-2) at No. 5 to give UTRGV their sole point of the match.
