TicketSmarter WAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Announced
NMSU's Keosha Sanders and Kansas City's Brooke Jenkins has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for February 10-16.
Sanders, the senior from Cocoa, Fla., went off to the Don Kirby Elite Invitational to compete this week. Sanders had a premil time of 7.44 in the 60m dash that placed sixth. She clocked a time of 7.36, which placed third in the finals. Sanders' finals time is a personal best, holding number one in the WAC and 41st in the NCAA Division I.
Jenkins, the freshman from St. Louis, Mo., competed in the Triple Jump and Long Jump events this week at the 5th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic this week. She measured a 5.89m in the Long Jump, placing third. Jenkins also landed a distance of 11.55m in the Triple Jump.
Other track nominees: GCU's Paige Hildebrandt finished the mile run with a time of 5:02.86... Seattle U's Maya McCabe clocked a 2:14.54 in the 800m run... Utah Valley's Hannah Branch posted a time of 16:56.86 in the 5000m... UTRGV's Sierra Spinler ran the mile with a time of 4:59.36.
Other field nominees: GCU's Madelyn Lundberg posted at 4.01m in the Pole Vault...NMSU Dascha Robinson competed in the Long Jump (5.35m) and Triple Jump (12.39m). Utah Valley's Berkley Berrett competed in the Pole Vault (3.51m)... UTRGV's Idatonye Cheetham-West holds number one in the Long Jump (5.94m).
