THIS WEEK IN WAC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
WOMEN'S
Seattle U's Michelle Newblom and GCU's Madelyn Lundberg has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for February 17-23.
Newblom, the senior from Reno, NV., closed out the regular season at the Last Chance College Elite Meet this week. Newblom ran in the 60m hurdles event to clock a time of 8.86. Her time her school's program record and is fourth best in the WAC this season.
Lundberg, the junior from Pheonix, Ariz., competed in the NAU Tune Up in the the last regular season meet. Lundberg competed in the Pole Vault event this week, where she marked a 4.05m. This mark is is now second in the WAC behind her teammate.
Other track nominees: Kansas City's Shayla Davis clocked a time of 8.24 in the 60m dash and 9.20 in the 60m hurdles.
Other field nominees: Seattle U's Tallia Sova posted at 11.98m in the Shot Put.
MEN'S
Seattle U's Nathan Pixler and Grand Canyon's Jorden Okyere has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for February 17-23.
Pixler, a junior from Sammamish, Wa., completed the season at the Last Chance College Elite Meet this week. He placed third in the 800m run to clock a time of 1:52.39. Pixler's time is now number one in the WAC this season.
Okyere, a sophomore from Phemix, Ariz., competed in the NAU Tune up this past week. He performed in the Shot Put this meet. Okyere marked a 17.43m in the event, now ranking number two in the WAC.
Other track nominees: GCU's Damion Marshall competed in the 60m(6.91) and 200m(21.97) events.
Other field nominees: Kansas City's Gevon Foreman marked a 17.08m in the Weighted Throw and a 13.52m in the Shot Put.
