WAC Announces Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Pre-Championship Coaches Poll
DENVER- The Western Athletic Conference announced its men's and women's Swimming and Diving Pre-Championship Coaches Polls, as voted on by the seven men's head coaches and the eight women's head coaches in the league. UNLV was selected as the favorite to win the men's championship and reigning champion Northern Arizona was selected to win it again for the women this year.
For the men's, only two teams received first place votes. UNLV finished with the most points at 35 and five first-place votes. Air Force followed for second with 28 points and two first-place votes. Grand Canyon and Wyoming tied for third at 24 points. California Baptist followed in fifth with 18 points and CSU Bakersfield in sixth with 12 points. Seattle U falls in seventh with six points.
On the women's side, Northern Arizona was picked as the favorite to win the conference championship for their seventh consecutive title, receiving four first-place votes and 45 points. California Baptist followed closely with three first-place votes and 42 points. NM State collected one first-place tallying 33 points. CSU Bakersfield snatched 29 points. Northern Colorado received 29 points. Grand Canyon and Idaho close behind with 23 points each. Seattle U closes the poll with seven points.
The 2020 Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving championships will take place at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas this Wednesday-Saturday, February 26- 29.
